Inscribed by the author on the title page in the month of publication: “For Peter, with gratitude, from Robert Lowell, May 1973”.

Peter L. Moldon was the book’s designer and he worked at Faber and Faber between 1965 and 1983 when he went freelance. He was a renowned expert on Ballet and wrote a book on the subject for Faber’s, explaining: “The children’s editor asked me one day whom I’d recommend to write a book on ballet … for the half-jokingly I replied ‘How about me?’ After the editorial board had read an article I had written for the Dancing Times on Nijinsky’s ballet L’Apres-midi d’un Faune, they gave me the go-ahead and the book was published in 1974. As well as writing and designing the book, I also drew the illustrations.” A fine copy in dust jacket.
