Inscribed by the author to the historian G.M. Trevelyan: ‘George Trevelyan, from John Buchan, June 1933’ in black ink to the front free endpaper. Buchan and Trevelyan appreciated each others work (Trevelyan had been one of the few admirers of Buchan’s 1921 novel ‘The Path of the King’) and had developed a warm friendship, with Trevelyan the dedicatee of Buchan’s book on Scott the year before this work. Partial offsetting and faint spotting to endpapers, wear to the head and tail of the spine, superficial splitting to rear joint, hinge intact, a good copy only.
