Hordt [Johan Ludwig Haard] was involved in the Swedish Revolution, and fled the country into the service of Frederick the Great, his memoirs were used extensively by Carlyle in his History of Friedrich II…. He served with great distinction in the Seven Years’ War, later being made Governor of Spandau.

This First Edition is moderately uncommon, OCLC records just seven copies.
