Monk at the Five Spot
WITH DOUBLE-PAGE COLLAGE PRINT
Fine copy. No signs of usages or wear.
The text for this book is a corrected version of an article by Matin T. Williams from a 1964 issue of Down Beat magazine, which covered stories of the American music scene, focusing on blues and jazz. Monk at the Five Spot centres around the famed musician Thelonius Monk performing at the New York City Jazz Club, The Five Spot Cafe.
This book is printed, bound, and designed by Mark McMurrary of the Caliban Press, including art by Guy Berard. It included a movable round map on the first page, and a playful full colour centre piece collage by Berard based off of a 1958 picture of the Thelonious Monk Quartet playing.
