According to the preface, the work was originally drawn up in German by “M. Engelhardt, from the [original Russian] journals and papers of M. von Wrangel and the other officers of the expedition … and was published at Berlin, in July, 1839, under the editorial care of Professor C. Ritter, with the sanction of M. von Wrangel … The [English] translation has been made by Mrs. Sabine … reduced into a somewhat smaller compass than the original.” Sabin 105510
