SEEMANN (Berthold).
Narrative of the Voyage of H.M.S. Herald during the Years 1845-51.
DIVERTED FOR FRANKLIN
A good copy of this important voyage, during which Kellett’s planned survey of the Pacific coast of Central America was cut short in order to assist the search for Franklin and his crew. The Herald made two summer excursions beyond the Bering Straits in 1849 and 1850, and the ship visited the Sandwich Islands on two occasions. Most of the first volume describes the west coast of Latin America.
