A handsome copy of this anonymous maritime poem, which borrows heavily from William Falconer’s The Shipwreck, a fact the sailor-poet apologises for in the preface. One of the plates is an amusing depiction of sailor’s “crossing the line”. There is a second poem from pp.109-112 titles “The Exiled Convict” which was “composed on viewing a Convict Ship leaving the Land.”
