Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: “Osbert from Marianne, dear Sir Osbert Sitwell from Marianne Moore - an obliged and affectionate friend, March 14 1951”. One holograph correction to her poem ‘In Distrust of Merits’ (p.12).
According to Molesworth’s biography of Moore, she met Osbert around 1948: “The Sitwells were especial favourites of Bryher and they became good social friends with Moore, partly as a result of this. Moore genuinely admired Edith’s poetry, and felt Osbert was especially gallant and brave about his illness.” An excellent copy in dust jacket, rubbed at the edges and with a small piece missing from the upper cover.
