This book is a kind of sequel to the author’s earlier work, Life and Labour in the Far Far West (London, 1884), and includes an interesting description of a railway trip from Toronto to Winnipeg, over the Rocky Mountains and the Cascades, to Vancouver. Barneby travelled to Manitoba, Victoria, and San Francisco, before starting for the Asian part of his adventures, which included visits to China, Japan, Ceylon and Egypt. With a handsome colour map of western Canada and northwestern United States (from the Great Lakes to the Pacific).
