Cohen-de Ricci described the plates as “charmantes”. Our copy is a different issue to that recorded by Cohen as it does not have “se vend chez Bluet jeune” on the title and consequently is without Bluet’s 4pp. of prospectus as found in some copies. The author had a taste for the occult sciences and his most famous work was Le Diable amoureux. He became suspect in the Revolution and was guillotined. Cohen-de Ricci 213.
