A very good copy of this fragile survival. Isaac Babalola Akinyele (1882-1964) was the first non-hereditary ruler of Ibadan which is the largest city in Oyo State, Nigeria. The first Christian to be appointed, he ruled for the better part of a decade from 1955 until his death in 1964.

He was a prolific writer and this history was written for Non-Native Nigerians and Nigerians who could not read the Yoruba. The work includes chapters on the origin of Ibadan, their nobility, the administrative system under British protection, justice, construction of roads, and landlord system.
