An attempt to “elucidate the more recent phases of the Far Eastern problem as they affect, more particularly, Japan, Russia, and China” by the veteran Japan-based English journalist. Harrison was on the staff of the Japan Herald in the late 1890s when he also started training in Ju-jitsu. This was his first publication, he is probably best known for his works on Martial Arts subjects including Art of Ju-Jitsu and The Fighting Spirit of Japan and Other Studies.
