Yamamoto Sanshichiro (1855-1943) was a professional photographer and publisher based in Peking. The present is a rare photographic record of famous scenes in and around Peking. Includes images of the wall and city gates, the Qian-men district, the Imperial throne in the Temple of Heaven, the Drum and Bell Towers, the Summer Palace with the Imperial Barge, the temples of the Fragrant Hills, rare images of Jade Spring Hill, the Ming tombs, the Great Wall, as well as several interesting portraits of Manchurian and Chinese ladies and various modes of transport. The first edition only had 90 plates.
