This work is a part of George Bell’s collectable Endymion series, which were ornate fully illustrated collections of poetry. The text is from Edgar Allan Poe’s 1845 collection of poetry, The Raven and Other Poems. The notable contribution of this book is the series of illustrations by W. Heath Robinson illustrator, famed London cartoonist and illustrator. These illustrations helped put Robinson into the cultural scene as a capable illustrator. Even though most of what he’s now known for is more imaginative and cartoonish, this book showcases the beginning and breadth of his commercial artistic prowess.

An excellent copy, unobtrusive spotting to blank fore-margins of outer leaves, minimal shelf wear to extremities, spine slightly toned.
