HULL (Hugh Munro).
Practical Hints to Emigrants intending to proceed to Tasmania:
A beautiful copy of this guide for emigrants. Hull emigrated to Australia as an infant and joined the Tasmanian civil service at the age of sixteen. He served as chief clerk under Lieut-Governor Denison and later as police magistrate for the Bothwell, Hamilton and later, Green Ponds districts. Hull wrote a Guide in 1858 and followed it with this publication 13 years later. Here Hull describes land regulations, wages, exports, agriculture, mineral resources, Hobart Launceston and many minor towns, and finishes with a short discourse on the salubrity of the island.
