SWEEZY (Paul M.)
Professor Cole's History of Socialist Thought: A Review Article.
Paul M. Sweezy’s own copy of his review of G.D.H. Cole’s History of Socialist Thought, published in The American Economic Review, together with his handwritten and typed notes in preparation of the article, and with the editors of the journal’s request to Sweezy to contribute the review, and their guidelines in doing so.
Paul Marlow Sweezy (1910-2004) was one of the leading American Marxist economists of the 20th century. In 1954 he was imprisoned for contempt of court when he refused to reveal the names of his political associates, citing the First Amendment; the Supreme Court overturned his conviction in a landmark case for academic freedom in 1957.
