First edition. Small 4to., original green cloth, dust jacket. London, Methuen, 1978.
Inscribed by the author on the title page: “To Karel, from Harold.” A near fine copy in dust jacket. Karel was the film director Karel Reisz, who had directed the Pinter screenplay of John Fowles’ novel The French Lieutenant’s Woman and went on to direct four other Pinter plays. Pinter and Reisz become great friends, with Reisz joining the Pinter’s burgeoning Bridge school.
