In the wake of the Emancipation Act of 1833, the British Empire introduced an apprenticeship system for the formerly enslaved work force. This system operated for four years until it was abandoned in 1838. It was decried by many as simply being slavery by another name and this pamphlet adds to that case by setting out some of the egregious punishments permissible under it.

Rare Book Hub finds one copy only of this pamphlet, listed in a 1948 Charles Heartman catalogue.
