Prompted by Adolf von Wrede’s account of the region, which had come under question, Hirsch travelled through Yemen between January and August 1893.He was the first European to explore the region of Hadramut, Schibam, Saiun and Terim. As well as providing the first accurate account of the region, Hirsch includes a discussion of the architure of the region.
