GOSSELMAN (Carl August).
Resa i Colmbia, åren 1825 och 1826.
A commander in the Swedish navy and an experienced adventurer and geographer, Gosselman also wrote of his trips to North and South America, and the West Indies. In Colombia his itinerary included Cartagena, Bogota, Medellin, and numerous other places, and he provides information on local history, people, and agriculture. The lithographic plates, based on the work of C.G. Plagemann, depict Colombians navigating boats on the Magdalena River and three natives carrying a European traveller and his supplies en route in the interior. Sabin, 28065; Palau, 106354.
