O'SHEA (Raymond).
The Sand Kings of Oman: being the experiences of an R.A.F. officer in the little known regions of Trucial Oman, Arabia.

A fascinating memoir of life in the United Arab Emirates (then Trucial Oman) during the final years of the Second World War. The author spent 1944 and 1945 in command of a desert post at Sharjah, which was part of the air route delivering supplies to Allied Forces in the Far East. (Though an Officer in the R.A.F., he was seconded to the British Overseas Airways Corporation which ran many of the remote routes.)

In addition to recording social and political events in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, O’Shea describes visits to Ajman, Dubai and Buraimi.

Macro, 1723.
