Alldridge was District Commissioner for Sherbro on the West Coast of Africa. It’s favourable location, being the main port for the departure of goods, made it one of the more lucrative areas in British Sierra Leone. The author discusses the commercial activities of the colony as well as describing the local tribes and the Mendi rising of 1898.
