MALLET (Lady [Matilde Obarrio].)
Sketches of Spanish-Colonial Life in Panama. 1672-1821.

A presentation copy with a loosely inserted letter of 1938 from the author presenting it to one “Lord Dougall” with thanks for his interesting articles on South America. There are a few other notes pasted into the book, amplifying the text, and two substantial clippings at rear. A physically substantial book, whose slight content belies its superficial air of authority. Mallet was the wife of the British Consul in Panama, and came from an aristocratic Spanish American family, of which she makes much.
