Originally published as Theorie der gesellschaftlichen Wirtschaft in 1914, Social Economics is perhaps one of the greatest statements of the Austrian school of economics. Writing in his preface, the great American economist Wesley C. Mitchell remarked: ‘In the literature of the Austrian school it merits the place held by Mill’s Political Economy in the literature of the classical school. It sums up, systematizes and extends the doctrines previously worked out by the author, his master and his fellow disciples’ (p. ix).
