The Sources of the Nile:
AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY
With the following inscription to the upper margin of the title page: “M. Vivian de St. Martin / from the Author”.
Although based on his earlier works, including his essay On the Nile and its Tributaries, this book contains much new material. Having had his theories on the population and geography of the interior of Africa confirmed by Burton, Beke called for the opening up of the continent by merchants, missionaries and philanthropists.
