Translated and with an introduction by D.H. Lawrence, this edition of a story from Renaissance prose writer A.F. Grazzini was published by Guiseppe Oriloi, publisher of the unexpurgated Lady Chatterly’s Lover. Lawrence describes the tale as ‘a magnificent account of what is perhaps the best Florentine beffa (practical Joke) on record’.

Very good, dust wrapper slightly creased and dirtied on front with small tear at tail of spine, sunning on spine, rear board bound slightly higher than front. Ownership inscription of Ian Angus pencilled on ffep, along with pencilled notes on publication history on ffep and rfep.
