A rare signed copy by the important Nigerian politician.

This work is a follow up to his Thoughts on the Nigerian Constitution and The People’s Republic. He states in the preface that it “sets out succinctly, and in the form of imperatives or mandatory assertions (1) the economic, social, as well as the political and constitutional objectives which, in my judgement Nigeria must pursue from now on …”

Obafemi Awolowo (1909-1987) was an instrumental figure in Nigeria’s independence movement in the late 1950s. His 1947 work, Path to Nigerian Freedom, was the first federalist manifesto by a Nigerian. He supported limited public ownership and limited central planning in government. He believed that the state should channel Nigeria’s resources into education and state-led infrastructural development.
