A festschrift in honour of the American logician Henry Sheffer, one of the most important influences in Susanne K. Langer’s intellectual life, under whom she studied formal logic at Harvard. The present collection was edited by Langer, who also contributed an essay titled ‘Abstraction in Science and Abstraction in Art’.
