The advertisement explains that the first edition having sold out, this edition was issued with some revisions in the absence of the author. OCLC locates only one copy of this edition, that at Dartmouth College, and one copy of the earlier edition, issued under the title Essai sur la Théorie…, also a prospectus for the original issue. KVK lists one copy of the present edition, at Göttingen, and a Milan edition under the earlier title at the University of Munich.
Morin is described on the title page as “Ex-commissaire liquidateur des dépenses de la guerre.”, on the title of the Prospectus held by NY Public Library he is apparently styled, “…ex-accusateur militaire et ex-administrateur général près l’armée d’Italie…”
