An account of the naval skirmish between the HMS Leopard and the USS Chesapeake, which took place off the coast of Virginia on June 22 1827. Four British sailors were forcibly removed from the Chesapeake and court-martialed for desertion. The incident caused diplomatic turmoil between the two nations, and many thought it might lead to a declaration of war. This pamphlet advocates for maintaining peace.
