Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: ‘Vera Nelson, from Joh Buchan, a fair substitute for an Elsfield Ham! August 1924’. Buchan resided for some time in the village of Elsfield, some four miles north east of Oxford, while the the recipient was a member of the Nelson publishing family. Offsetting to endpapers, just a hint of faint spotting to outer leaves and edges, spine slightly faded with some wear to ends, faint marking to covers, a good copy only.
