Accompanied by Ludwig von Hoehnel, Chanler set out to explore the area north of the River Tana. He recounts his hunting adventures near the Mackenzie River, shooting hippopotamus and rhinoceros. They followed the Guaso Nyiro, discovering a water fall over black lava, which they named Chanler Falls. Czech considers this a well-written account.Czech, p34.
