A curious and rare tourist guide to the remnants of the Chinese enclave in Nagasaki. The plates show a few of the buildings in an advanced state of disrepair… But this is definitely the last look before Nagasaki was bombed. The text provides some background information on some of the remaining buildings like the Dojin-do, the Tenko-do and the Kannon-do shrine. Chinese traders at Nagasaki were confined to a walled compound (Tojin yashiki) which was located to the South of Deshima island; the compound was locked at night and all the activities of the Chinese were closely monitored by the Nagasaki bugyo.
