“These pages are nothing more than they profess to be - the story of ordinary incidents in an extraordinary state of things; recollections of the Trail of War, not of the front.”
An interesting account of conditions on the fringes of the Franco-Prussian War. The author’s first book and evidently so little thought of that he omitted it from his Who’s Who entry. This copy inscribed, “From the Author, October 1870” on the half-title.
