Two menus for meals aboard HMS Malabar.
MENUS FOR A GRAND FEAST
Two charming relics of shipboard life, executed for the same (or very similar) meal, perhaps for a visiting French dignitary. Indeed, on the verso of the French menu is an ms. note referring “du general Ghorgi.”
In 1837, Admiral Montague commanded HMS Malabar, which was at that time stationed between Portugal and Spain.
