ORWELL (George), et al.
Victory or Vested Interest?
A collection of essays on wartime life and challenges. Contributions by G.D.H. Cole, Francis Williams, Harold J. Laski, Mary Sutherland and George Orwell. The book was originally published by the Labour Book Service, followed by the Routledge trade edition. The present example is a second impression of the trade edition, published only three months after the first, with black rubber stamps ‘Labour Book Service Edition’ to the title page and front flap of dust jacket, also with a revised price sticker of ‘2/6’.
Provenance: From the library of Orwell scholar and former UCL deputy librarian Ian Angus. Angus was the co-editor of Orwell’s Collected Journalism, Essays and Letters published in 1968 and also later contributed to editing the enormous 20-volume edition of Orwell’s Complete Works published 1997-8.
A very good copy. Dust jacket with some minor edge wear and discolouration, some small sellotape repairs verso.
