£350.00

Printed on gorgeous Binda hand-made paper set with very large margins, this is a beautifully constructed first edition of one of D.H. Lawrence’s posthumously published novellas. Originally written in 1926, The Virgin and the Gipsy is a story of youthful romance, sexuality and innocence beset by cruelty, in line with much of Lawrence’s later work. The colophon is sure to note that ‘this work lacks the author’s final revision, and has been printed from the manuscript exactly as it stands’.

Very good, dust jacket well-sunned, especially on spine, with a tear on the rear cover near head of spine, very upper and lower edges of boards slightly dirtied but otherwise pristine. Ownership inscriptions pencilled on ffep.
