A rare presentation copy. Both volumes are inscribed on the half-title “To Mrs Stanley with the Authors Compliments.”

In 1837 Keppel was promoted captain, and appointed in 1841 to head to China and disrupt Malaysian pirates, a mission he repeated in 1847 in the Maender. This present work follows on from his The Expedition to Borneo of HMS Dido for the Suppression of Piracy, describes his journey to Labuan (an island off Borneo) and provides an acocunt of pirates in the South China Sea. Both volumes include further information on Borneo, Sarawak and the Dyaks.
