Ownership inscription to the second front free endpaper of the author’s cousin and brother-in-law ‘R.Farquharson Sharp’. Elizabeth Sharp said ‘the life of William Sharp divides itself naturally into two halves, the first ends with the publication by William Sharp of “Vistas”, and the second begins with “Pharais”, the first book signed by Fiona MacLeod’. Vistas is a series of dramatic sketches written under the influence of Sharp’s friends in the symbolist movement, Maeterlinck in particular being a strong influence.
