As the title makes clear this edition of Le Vaillant’s first voyage contains eight new plates which had previously not appeared in print. Since the list of plates at the rear of the Second Voyage gives directions to the binder for placing those plates for the first voyage it seems clear that this same edition of Le Vaillant’s first journey was intended to be sold with this the first publication of the second.
