A very good copy. Sailing under the auspices of the King George’s Sound Company to trade fur, Porlock sailed for Nootka. He established trading centres in Cook Inlet and then explored the Alaska coast from Cape Edgecumb to Montague Island. His accounts of both the Indians and Russians provided important new detail on their customs and manners. Portlock, who took part in Cook’s final voyage to the Pacific, also includes an account of Cook’s death as described to him by a Hawaiian who was witness to the incident.
